The world is constantly chancing, and the same applies to the requirements for RF & microwave systems. On one hand there’s a increasing demand for power amplifiers at mmWave frequencies, on the other hand the instantaneous bandwidths are growing. Also the requirements for low-noise amplifiers increase for quantum-, space applications, and wireless communication.
To characterize amplifiers, tuners are being used for source- and loadpull measurements. Passive and active tuners are well known, but how do these fit within modern requirements? Recently, Maury introduced a new generation of tuners with technology that extends their frequency range up to 320GHz. The tuners can be completely passive, hybrid active, or active and either tune on CW but also on wideband modulated wireless communication signals like 5G, future 6G, WIFI-7 , etc.
